Amaali helps you keep life simple with a great range of one-spoon spice mixes, hand blended by founder Yazi in her Skipton kitchen using traditional Kashmiri family recipes.
Yazi uses the traditional method passed down from her mother, hand mixing and rubbing a combination of up to eighteen different spices including turmeric, cardamom and fenugreek, which have many recognised health benefits and have been used in India for thousands of years as spices and medicinal herbs.
Yazi has worked with many renowned chefs including The Hairy Bikers, Madhur Jaffrey and Jamie Oliver and her spice mixes are supplied to chefs who trained at the Savoy in London and the legendary Plaza Athénée in Paris.
You can choose from a range of spice mixes including classics such as Garam Masala, rich and pungent Mix Basaar, tangy Chaat Masala and Pokora Masala Spice, Yazi’s latest addition to her range. There’s also Spice Gift Sets, Chapatti making Gift Sets and great value Cookery Courses, practical Kashmiri cookery demonstrations where you learn to make authentic curries, and Indian flatbread, parantha.
Yazi says: “Making fresh pokoras takes me back to my childhood. The mouth-watering smell of pokoras being prepared by my mum, while dad makes the chutney, fresh mint and chilli with dry pomegranate seeds. What a pleasant smell it was indeed.
Fast forward a few years and I am now demonstrating my spice blends on the new crafts, hobbies and arts channel Hochanda, broadcast on both Sky and Freeview. Recent cookery demos at Rudding Park, the Cavendish Pavilion, Bolton Abbey and Rendezvous in Skipton means the word is spreading about my fantastic spice blends.”
It’s fair to say that Yazi never stops. She is a volunteer for the Craven Refugee Group supporting families arriving in the local area from war zone areas. Yazi continues her work with a number of womens’ organisations and supports anti-poverty programs in the poorest developing countries with long-term, no-interest loans. And as if that’s not all, Yazi is also busy writing a script for film and walking the boards with some acting for local theatre shows and film.
